An Oath On Their Lips: Uzima University’s White Coat Ceremony
The Life So Short, The craft So Long To Learn
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Uzima University held its 4th White Coat Ceremony, bringing 204 medical students to a defining moment in their journey towards becoming doctors.

“The Life So Short, the Craft So Long” a quote on the pre-event poster was so eminent, a Hippocratic aphorism reminding medical students that putting on the white coat marks not the completion of learning, but the beginning of a lifelong commitment to knowledge, service, humility, and ethical practice.
The Chief Guest, Dr Hezron Omollo,HSC

The ceremony was graced by Dr Hezron Omollo,HSC, Uzima University’ 001- “The first ever medical student enrolled at Uzima University”.
Dr Hezron Omollo serves as Head of the Division of Health Infrastructure, Projects and Grants Management at the Ministry of Health,Kenya

“The white coat marks the beginning of a journey. Along the way, you may wear a brown coat like mine, a suit like others, or attire of another colour as you serve in clinical practice, leadership, research or public service.Whatever you wear, carry the competence, compassion, integrity and responsibility that define a doctor. Your commitment to patients and humanity must remain constant, even when your coat changes.” Dr Hezron Omollo,HSC.
Now if I carry out this oath, and break it not, may I gain for ever reputation among all men for my life and for my art; but if I break it and forswear myself, may the opposite befall me ~ last line of the Hippocratic Oath
