A New Chapter for UoN Medical Laboratory Students as 96.4% Pass Board Examination

After years of uncertainty surrounding professional licensing, 54 out of 56 University of Nairobi Medical Laboratory Science and Technology students have successfully passed their Board Examinations, recording a 96.4% pass rate.

The results, already celebrated by the student community, mark more than just an impressive examination outcome. They represent an important milestone for a group of students who have, for years, faced challenges in progressing from university training to professional licensing.

Graduates of the programme had previously experienced difficulties accessing the Board Examination and subsequently obtaining professional licensure. A key part of this challenge was the institutional positioning of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology under the Department of Human Pathology.

The situation changed following the establishment of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology as an independent department, creating a clearer pathway for students to proceed to the professional Board Examination.

The August examination therefore became a significant moment for the programme and its students.

96.4% Pass Rate

Of the 56 students who sat the examination, 54 passed, translating to a 96.4% pass rate.

For the successful candidates, the results mark the transition from years of academic and professional uncertainty toward the next stage of their careers.

Beyond the numbers, the outcome represents an important step in strengthening the pathway between training, professional examination and eventual practice for Medical Laboratory Science and Technology graduates at the University of Nairobi.

More Than an Examination

Board examinations are an important bridge between university education and professional practice. For the UoN Medical Laboratory Science and Technology students, being able to sit the examination carries additional significance given the challenges previous cohorts experienced in accessing the licensing pathway.

The latest results have therefore been met with celebration among students and the wider university community.

As the 54 successful candidates prepare for the next stage of their professional journey, their achievement also signals a new chapter for the programme..

Mastermind Medics TV congratulates the successful candidates and celebrates this milestone with the entire AMELSTUN community.
